Many leave their car running during the time they go and buy something quickly. So if you are on the look-out, you only need to step in, close the doors and take your time to adjust the seat and mirror before taking off. I always go into town by foot, so I meet running cars without passengers on a regular basis.
I never have been a courier for a living. I used to go downtown and steal their bikes, when they left them unattended and unlocked. 🙂
If I weren't too nice to punish dumb people, I could have made quite some money now on selling stolen cars... But it is a good trade to keep in mind for later if I ever hit rock bottom financially.

Have been considering it for a few years now, just not really sure where to go. I'm planning a long cycling trip through France in September starting in the Pyrenees and working my way back to London over a few weeks. It will be my first long trip with a tent and low funds but with any luck it'll be the start of a slightly more adventurous chess geek. If ...[text shortened]... Brit who speaks very little french! Hows Oz treating you? What you doing out there anyway? 🙂
The bike trip sounds really good apart from the 'having to pedal for x miles' bit, good luck with that mate. Also bear in mind that street beggars make a fortune in the south of france so if all else fails...

I'm considering taking up this job in London. I've been commuting 3-400 miles a week for the last two months to work (by bike, obviously) and have decided that i'm probably fit enough to at least start couriering. I thought i'd see if i could get any advice here. 🙂

I'd love to have a go on one of those! 😵 What on earth was the designer thinking making the front wheel that big, any accident becomes a major one!! 😛😕:'(
