I have to wonder if any of you have seen "Pumping Iron" and read some of the things Arnie said in the 60's and 70's.
I'm a Republican and live in California. I think Arnie deserves respect for making his way to the top.....But most of his trip was by way of steriods, marijuana, women, and beer. Really, go rent "Pumping Iron". When he was runnning for office, I never saw any qualties that would 'qualify' him for governor.
Since he has been in office, he has completely failed to walk the talk. Nothing here has changed...no "returning California to it's people" or "getting rid of special interests". Guess all that was in the script and California made a worse of two evils decision.

Rob, wasn't it a beautiful moment last night at the convention when McKain made a reference to a "disingenuous film maker" and Moore was right there at the convention just lapping it up. I thought that was really funny.
I heard that Moore was there, but I haven't wasted my time by watching any of the convention.

From a view across the pond...
Arnold will be a very good politician.
1) He is successful - you can not doubt that the guy has achieved his full potential. You can say he has no talent - that makes where he sits now an even greater achievement. The way he has built his success again gives another tilt to the republican party.
2) He is an actor - he knows how to look the part, give the speeches, look at the camera, take the camera away from his "co-stars". Also, he has history that people can identify with, he is something that voters know, not just another career politician from a wealthy background. Actors play the part, "today Arnold we want you to'1play tough on crime'", later the same day "we want you to play 'supporting hospitals'" - he knows how to take himself out and play the role convincingly.
3) He has money behind him - the most important thing in politics in the USA. He married into the right family, has all the right friends and people want to be associated with him. He is going to win.
4) He has a bad past - I don't think this is a bad thing for a politician - he has seen the dark side so he can talk about it with inside knowlegde.
I personally do believe in a lot of what he says, and I would love him to stop going on about "girlie men" all the time.
