Peanuts is a good idea, we had a student with a peanut allergy that almost died when he ate a cookie with peanut butter in it. Worst food allergy you can have, and not that uncommon, it's life threatening in people with severe cases.

You can make ammonium triiodide which is quite a volitile explosive - although a bit too unstable for terrorism, you will be pleased to know.
On a side note, that was one of the first explosives I learned to make.
