This was the first-ever edition of the show that featured 100-word microfictions. The first three series, 2017-2020, had other kinds of spoken word. This episode was broadcast in July 2020 although for this podcast version, the show had one Onion removed a few weeks after the original was aired and replaced with a different one. Back then, there were ten Onions and ten "undeservedly unfamiliar" songs in each show. Nowadays, there are usually 14 Onions in a show and the musical selections are shorter. Since 2020, approximately 2,500 Onions have been written and recorded for the show. Series 8 starts mid-January 2024 and the first six shows will include series two of Indonesia Phil's "From Colchester To Sulawesi".
