Hi Dave! That's an impressive list. Just wondering why there are no CD-
ROMs on it. Don't you have any? Also, you have stopped the Chess
Informant quite some time ago. I only once bought it, #81, but I can't
work with it. Much too complicated for my simple puter-mind. I
subscribed to ChessBase Magazine on CD-ROM and am looking
forward to see the postman delivering the next issue every two
months. Really great stuff, not only a lot of games from matches and
tournaments, but also in-depth training and, I like that as well, multi-
media features: interviews and videos from tournaments.
I haven't moved over to the digital age of chess study yet. I imagine I
will have to eventually. I haven't even bought a DVD yet. I
know...pretty sad...little VHS boy.
Thanks for the compliment though...this library has taken me a long
time to collect...and I am pretty proud of it.
I plan to start purchasing Informants again shortly...they are very
handy for me here.
Dave
You don't need a DVD at all. Just the PC's CD-drive. Just take a look
at <chessbase.com> and take a stroll there. It's worth the (little)
effort. I also have many chess books but didn't have the time, nor the
energy left to study till I retired last November. It's a bit late to
stomach all that stuff now. I try to play with a mini-maxi theoretical
knowledge.
Have a look at my CD-ROMs:
* ABC of Chess Openings (Gary Gauthier)
* ABC of Chess Middlegames (idem)
* ABC of Chess Endings (idem)
* Intensive Course Tactics (Renko)
* The Basic Principles of Chess Strategy I, II & III (Bartashnikov)
* Sveshnikov Sicilian (Rogozenko)
* The Accelerated Dragon (Minzer & Barràn)
* Classical Sicilian (Kosten)
* Modern Ways of playing the Sicilian (Rodriguez)
* The Réti Opening (Maddox)
* The King's Gambit (Bangiev)
* Budapest Gambit (Oleinikov)
* Modern Benoni (Hebert)
* Check and Mate (King)
* The Chigorin Defence (Breutigam)
* Queen's Gambit Exchange Variation (Bagirov - New in Chess, far
inferior to ChessBase)
* World Champion Alekine (Hübner)
* ChessBase Magazine #70>>>86
In each of the CB Traiing CD-ROMs you find literally 7,000-9,000
games of which 100s annotated, training and testing games in which
you have to sweat it out against the clock!
