Orther than using a computer to suggest moves how does one cheat? Also how do the administrators know when they are cheating?

For example by praying to God that he may show you the best move, and then playing the move that comes to your mind; or by asking your Dog for advice. If you make lots of fishy moves, the site administrators will ban you because they will assume that you get help from your goldfish.

A player called ih8sens used to analyse all his games with a computer after he played them and then memorise all the computers analysis, ready for the next game. It was cheating of a sort, but not quite as bad as using a pure computer.

At the bottom of each page is "Terms of Service", click there and read section 3b for the various things that are not allowed. The good folks at RHP try to keep it an honest site by comparing your move choice to that of a computer. This is not a one-shot deal, but covers many moves looking for a close match with the moves a computer would make in the same position. The actual details of this method, for good reason, are secret. May I suggest that you play your games without a thought to if your opponent is cheating? That's a distraction and for me just not worth the effort.

edit: Oh yes, also ignore the above 3 poster riff-raffs.

Hacking in to your opponent's accounts and playing bad moves against yourself.

that is not cheating. but it shows up as cheating

it is no different than having a personal coach analyze matches with you.

Maybe naive but why not solve tos violations with simple, easily administered loss of membership priviliges and, in so doing, minimize

if not avoid 'banned from site' litigation risk: (3a) Inhibit if not eliminate by screening new member application email and actual postal

mail addresses for duplication. (3b) Provisional restriction to unrated games. (3c) Provisional restriction to clan and club forum posting.
