it is no different than having a personal coach analyze matches with you.
You can't 'memorize' every chess position possible.
His chess engine matches were consistently high through all his games all the way through the middle and end game, it was not a case of him expanding a few moves into a known opening based on memorization.
Every possible position in a 40 move game printed on paper would reach beyond the move. His claim isn't feasible, considering how many positions are possible in any given game.
