The concept is that it doesn't revolve around our sun like the other planets. It make an orbit more like that of a comet, going from our sun to another solar systems primary over the span of several thousand years. Now, if you really know your astronomy, you know that any object like a comet covers the majority of the its orbits distance in the very last portion of its time (i.e. the multiplied acceleration as it becomes more caught up in the gravity). So actually, it's supposed to pass through our solar system....um.....this summer.

That's the theory atleast. There's a lot of info on the web of what different people think about it. I do mean a LOT of info! I, being the sceptic I am, simply look at it logicaly. If the rumors are true, then very soon it should be visible as a "new" star near orions belt, viewable with a common telescope or even 10x binoculars. In any event, we would be able to see it with the naked eye about a month before it passes, showing up in the sky as a red cross.

Since we share a common theological backing, I would also mention that I have heard some people refer to it as "wormwood", as in from the book of Revelation. I must admit that IF it were to come to pass as they say, the global ramifications would fit the bill. A very curios subject to me. I'm always very sceptical of things like this though. 😲

With all due respect Onmislash, "skeptic" is not one of the adjectives I would have thought to use in conjunction with you. As for sharing a common theological backing...well, that is a debate for another thread...

He he, true enough. I can see where that's valid from our recent theological discussion. I'll admit it. I'm a stubborn ace when it comes to religion. In time, you'll see that's about the only thing I'm so stubborn in. Well.....maybe politics too, but that's all! I swear! 😀
