The post that was quoted here has been removedLatent or manifest are very important analyses of dreams.
Tame, or not, the manifest is what your concious mind is aware of, be you asleep or waking up. However, the manifest is a distortion of only a 'symbolic' expression of how you interpret it as 'true meaning'.
I'm sure you've been semi-concious but may have 'controlled' the direction of your dream?
The latent is expressing ideas of what you would conciously desire.
You may dream of you loved one, be you male or female, and have internal wishes of no threat to your relationship. You may dream that a male/female approaches your partner, and that she is very thin, or very ugly in appearance to your partner. That is your dreamt of defence mechanism, which on a concious level would display itself in "get away from him/her, he is my love!"
That is to say, your dream/s express wishful fulfilment (the latent), in that they express possibilities that are not realistic in everyday life, and develop into something which is less threatening to your concious mind, permitting a good night's sleep!
The manifest then steps in, and converts the latent to manifest, the symbolic, so that you really sleep well!
I shan't go on, as I could be writing about this subject until Widget comes home.. 😉

I watch dreams vaporize. Thought maybe a place to lock them down.
If you have a dream that is of value, and can remember it then it has probably been organised into a valuable memory, and you can access it responsively at immediate will. 😉
