@very-rusty saidI could brick pave a drive, sand a gym floor but not a bricklayer,specialist job, did shutter a concrete flight of stairs a few times, I was also a ceiling fixer until it fell out of favour, can do a bit of plastering and skimming my last working wage back in 1990 was £23,000 per year then I started out on my own earning about £50-60 k but perks on top company car, fuel, lots of cash in hand jobs and as much time off as i wanted.

@badradger saidVery good....Are you retired now and getting a work pension? My Brother-In-Law gets a pretty good one that he will receive untill he passes which hopefully will be many, many years down the road.

@very-rusty saidNo works pension, I opted out in the late 70s giving me a larger state pension £180 per week plus £82 per month opt out draw whilst working I invested the max isa allowance every year for me and my wife, we now live off the proceeds plus we both maxed out the premium bonds £50 k each we also made a fair amound after selling our 4 bed detatched to downsize into our bungalow, so VR not mega rich but comfortable she gets a slightly smaller pension £157 per week + £700 per month pip allowance
