good spelling does NOT equal intelligence anyway...
You'll get a relationship between rating and spelling errors - the higher the rating, the lower number of spelling errors.
Draw your own conclusions.
sunbeam...as you grow older you will find out that embarassing moments or situations are not that important of a thing to fret about...you will also find out that you will learn to laugh at yourself and enjoy life a lot more....
we tend to take life very serious in the early stages of our life but then as we grow older we find out that life should not be that serious, rather, it should be fun and enjoyable....so the next time your mom does some crazy thing, roll your eyes BUT enjoy the fact that your mom loves you and is enjoying life...

If I improve my spelling my rating should rise!
Somehow I do not believe you!

Blooming pedant. 😛
Check this link out dooooooood.

Like 'dooooooooood' - just because people use it, it does not mean the word exists in Engliah.
Type 'define: pedantism' into Google and please let the forum know what the result is, dude.
Originally posted by ivangriceso what if there is a correlation between chess ability and spelling ability (and i am not conceding that there is)? still doesn't equal intelligence. Fritz 8 would have a high rating here and the MS Word spell checker can spell as well as any of us, but few would call either intelligent. but programs apart - you seem to be confusing chess ability with general intelligence. Einstein, whom i thinkmost would concede was very intelligent, was apparently a duffer when it came to chess.

EDIT: ...and in this very case, Sundream is apparently dyslexic - and as far as i know there is no evidence to support the conclusion that dyslexics are lower in intelligence as a group than the population as a whole, even though they are notoriously bad spellers.

The point about dyslexia notwithstanding, do the experiment and draw your own conclusions.

The office, disposition, or act of a pedant; pedantry. [Obs.]
And........................?

all it means is that there is a correlelation between spelling ability and chess ability. you have yet to establish a link to intelligence.
i might note in passing that people who want to establish a correlation between intelligence ad some other measure always seem to pick a measure that they themselves rate reasonably highly in.
i think it would be a big mistake to draw the conclusion that the highest-rated players are the most intelligent, or tend to be more intelligent than lower-rated players.
ANYWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BACK TO THE TOPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AT what age do parents stop playing with your hair in front of other peole. You know, you meet some people you know, and as you stand there talking your mom starts straightening your bangs.
And when does your mom stop saying "Is that what you are going to wear?"
