the 'fans' sicken me too. I am interested to know if it is 90% the Brits or 50% or less but they are reported on more. Maybe because of the reputation other countries 'fans' search out the Brits when they want a ruck - they know there'll be one waiting. I still bet the Brits the major problem though.
I hope that FIFA/UEFA aren't trying to pret ...[text shortened]... stick to is or else it's a green light that the 'fans' can act as they like without reprisal.
UEFA said that if there was rioting/trouble around the stadiums before or after matches then action would be taken against England. As it stands borth matches have gone off peacefully. In fact after the France game, the porrtugese police praised the English fans for their good natured behaviour, often joining in with French fans celebrations. All the trouble caused by English people has occurred over 200 miles away from where any English game has occurred. The FA can hardly be called to account for the actions of what are essentially English holiday-makers in Portugal - most of whom don't have tickets for the games!
Obviously, anyone who incites or is involved in any rioting etc. should be deported, and any sentences should be upheld by the British authorities, which has, as far as i know, happened so far. Don't let then actions of a few hundred knobheads ruin it for everyone else.
Why is it that the people who protest to be most proud of England are the people England should be least proud of?

If someone commits a crime, they are usually tried and punished in the country where they committed the crime.
Game: we played rubbish but the bribes to the ref were obviously substantial.
Commentators: overpaid & underbrained. They should stick to saying who is passing the ball to who.
Supporters: we were removed from Eurpoe in the 1980's and it just showed up how violent other country's fans really are. They should just find the ring leaders and come down really really hard on them.
All the trouble caused by English people has occurred over 200 miles away from where any English game has occurredThis, that the trouble is far away from the matches, was something that I was not aware of. It really changes my perspective and why the FA calls the 2 events unconnected. I retract much of what I said before.

As for why it's the people who protest most strongly to be proud to be British that make use most ashamed... I have a theory that people who cling to nationalism do it because they like the idea that simply belonging to a certain country makes them special. Is it that people who need to believe this the most are those that have the least real things to feel special about and therefore the most likely to be disenfranchised from regular society? Just a thought.

not all Brits are English, but all English are Brits.
But point taken, I was being lazy ('Brits' has less letters) and I should have made the distinction, if not for clarity then to not offend the other corners of the UK.
