I guess its because we europeans have had some trouble with propaganda in modern history and are extra cautious to remain truthful and unbiased (though I must admit its becoming ever less so), americans on the other hand, won't recognize it that easily and/or will think that a little biased news is no real harm.
Bit of a gross generalisation, but still I think this is more or less what happens.
