@a-unique-nickname saidBut not those who have relatives and ancestors who fought for Britain in its army, navy and airforce, nor those who root for Scottish athletes in the Olympics etc. etc.
A lot of Scotch take offense to being called British.

@a-unique-nickname saidSome rather extreme ethnocentric Japanese philosophers - who propagate a field of study called nihonjinron - do dwell upon the theory that Japanese people are a species apart from ordinary humans.
I hear the Japs also take offense to being called people.

@a-unique-nickname saidMy (Japanese) wife played japs in a Scrabble game (which I of course challenged) but which turned out to be a valid word.

@sh76 saidThat’s so very sad.
All my great-grandparents were dead before I was born.
My father never saw any of his grandparents. My father was born in 1950. His 4 grandparents were all gassed at Auschwitz.
My father told me a story of his brother’s loss - he, his wife and 2 children were found dead in a forest with their faces mutilated. He had been a mayor in Ukraine at some time.
@drewnogal saidSome “human’s” sure can be inhumane.😢

@suzianne saidSo, why then did you go directly to Indignant without passing Go? All I said was: "Scotch is an alcoholic drink. A lot of Scots ~ i.e. Scottish people ~ are offended by being called Scotch".

Now I know. My ignorance was, in part, due to being American, and due, in part, to not knowing any of the fine people from Scotland.
