If the crappy smiley face displays properly, your browser's rendering ability meets web standards.
If the crappy smiley face looks like a bomb has hit it and bits of it are spread about all over the page, your browser is rubbish.
Firefox 3 worked fine then, but my internet explorer...😲

For some reason whenever it loads, it locks up (hanging), and doesn't do anything; I've attempted to reinstall the older version of Firefox, but that's not working either...🙁
Originally posted by Bad wolfYes! That is exactly my problem as well. It takes a good 5 minutes just so I can see my Firefox Home Page! I am not liking this too much, and cannot find the problem. CPU Usage seems fine, no overflows of data...I just can't figure it out...

1) Your firewall won't allow FF3 through.
2) You have extensions not loading properly with FF3
You should start Firefox in safe mode. If the pages load faster
again, disable all your extensions, restart in normal mode and then
enable them one after the other until you find the offensive one(s).
If pages won't load fast in safe mode either, check your firewall settings
for FF 3. Could be you've blocked it without realising it.
If pages still won't load faster, I may consider helping out at the right
fee: praise and homage to me in at least five threads, wether or not I
successfully solve your problem. 😏

My main problem was that even if I loaded it in safe mode, it would still freeze, and i could not get access to the add ons section; to overcome this problem, I stumbled upon the idea of opening Firefox without the ethernet cable plugged in - i can only imagine this worked because it wasn't trying to load a web page up (incidently the yahoo web page).
What I found that if I disabled everything, including the add ons, but importantly, all of the plugins as well, it actually did work, I then one by one reenabled the add ons, and the plugins. What I found that after I had done this, all but two plugins worked, firefox said that these two plugins had been disabled for my protection, these being 'QuickTime Plug-in 7.1.3' and 'Yahoo Application State Plugin'; maybe we can assume these that were kept on during the install, and couldn't be disabled automatically when online, because the plugins prevented it from working.
Well anyways, it's working now, maybe you have a similar problem, try doing the same thing i did, and let me know if it worked.

I can promise you those homages though 😀
After I get internet again on July 12th though...
Until then,
Cheers,

P.S. Leaving for vacation tomorrow so don't expect much of me around here.

different from plug-ins, I meant plug-ins too. In fact, I should have written,
'deactivate every part of your installation that's not core Firefox', or
'deactivate/remove all add-ons'. 😛
On account of my post-addition to my previous post, I hereby demand
praise and homage in at least five threads. Now, go! 😏

I can't wait! How exciting!? 😀
