Why are we limited to these two. I use firefox, but still, what about Opera, Mozilla (not firefox), or something else. A friend of mine made his own web browser once. Check this out http://www.uvm.edu/~jmonette/MonetteEnterprises.htm
Too bad he doesn't have it for download anymore. The No- Click shopping was amazing. But check out the fake ads, some of them are pretty funny.

We are not limited to two. ANY browser which is both standards-compliant and secure is a good browser. IE fails on both counts, and so is a bad browser.
Unknown browsers can be risky because we don't know how compliant or secure they are. Tried and tested ones will be fine. And there are more than two of these.
