As a teenager I had to undertake survival training.
One of our instructors told us that living on a a diet of rabbits was very unhealthy.
It struck me at the time as a very odd thing to say.
Now I here I am 35 years later reading about it on a chess site.

I would say your instructor wasn't great.

Snare it, skin it clean it. Put on a stick and roast it over the fire you have going to keep warm.

You just can't live on rabbits alone, they are to lean not much fat which you need to survive.

Your trainer wasn’t a fellow who trained you to survive someone attacking you with a banana, was he?🤔

You know many people get lost in the woods and die, simply because they don't know how to live on the food all around them, and aren't properly prepared and have the things on them you need for survival.

Whatever.
You're taking the focus off of the main question here by harping on the rabbit.

He didn't specify drinking water because of the damn rabbit, he focused on digesting food period.

Sheeeeesh.
The rabbit will sustain you but you have to eat other things as well. rabbit is not difficult to digest.

If your lost in the woods you would have brooks for drinking water. Make sure the brook is running and slopped.

What happened to carrying water on you? Like a canteen that can be re-filled at a clean running brook, you'd have to know your area of course.

There are 3 things you should have on you a knife, compass, and matches for sure if you don't have anything else at least have these 3 items. Anyone can get lost even if you know the area.
