The "games waiting" link has been there for quite a while.
The one located on the bottom right side of my screen doesn't work right for me. It tries to take me to the Red Hot Pawn site, which I do not use. It seems to be a fixed link that doesn't recognize I am using 'Time For Chess' instead.
The one at the upper right side next to the log out link works as it should, taking me to the 'My Games' page.
Originally posted by mwmillerThere's also that binocular symbol that gets you a list of your watched games (or tells you that you have no bookmarked games with a watch) and the symbol to the right of the "games waiting" link, which gets you a list of your urgent games. And if you have a new message, that shows up there as well.
I guess I never noticed the bottom one before.

I don't know what link on the bottom right you are talking about, though. I can't see any links there at all.
Originally posted by NordlysHey, just noticed at least the "last post" column appears in bold on threads with new posts you haven't read yet... It has a drastically different appearance now, however, and the green, yellow, red indicators are now rendered impotent and or relocated as noted above.
It looks horrible here as well. The coloured circles have moved to the "last post" icon, and the bold script for unread threads/posts only shows there, too.
Edit: They also don't always turn to "read" after reading them (edit 2: Hm, maybe it just takes a little longer; it now has changed). And there's a blue blob I haven't seen before, but that only appe ...[text shortened]... had updated the script, so that may be a new feature (no idea what it may mean, though).
Originally posted by JaminYes, but that's also less reliable than normal. It used to be immediate, but now it often takes a while until a thread shows as read. I can't find a system in how it works (or doesn't work).

Edit: I found one blob rule: Only odd threads (i.e. the first, third, fifth etc. on the page, not threads with an odd content - that would be almost all of them anyway) get blobs (but not all odd threads get blobs).
Edit 2: Aha! Reading a blobbed thread doesn't make it show as read, but reading an unblobbed thread below a blobbed thread makes both of them show as read!
I'm using firefox and greasemonkey. I always log onto 'Time for Chess'. I don't know anything about a 'notifier' program but maybe that's where it came from.
The link I'm talking about is just to the right of the greasemonkey icon on the status bar, at the bottom of the page. It currently says "0 games waiting" but it does change if I have a game waiting. (Same as the one at the top of the page). It's probably not really a link, but when I right or left click on it I am taken to the Red Hot Pawn site and I get the page for 'Red Hot Pawn' that says I'm not logged in.
Usually when I 'mouse-over a link, the link location is displayed on the status bar on the left side. That's why I don't think this is an actual link. It acts more like a task bar icon. I can disable the whole status bar and make all this stuff go away if I go to View at the very top and click on 'status bar' just below 'tool bars'.
Maybe if I log onto RHP instead of TFC, the bottom one will take me to the 'My Games' page on RHP. I'll try that.
edit..........
OK, it appears the bottom one is only good if you are logged onto RHP.

Originally posted by NordlysI solved my problem with the bottom 'games waiting' link or icon. I went to 'tools', then 'add-ons', and found one called 'RHP enhancements'. I'm not sure where it came from or when I installed it, but I uninstalled it and the problem went away. I don't think it had anything to do with greasemonkey.

Originally posted by NordlysOkay so the solution is very simple and easy to understand.
I found one blob rule: Only odd threads (i.e. the first, third, fifth etc. on the page, not threads with an odd content - that would be almost all of them anyway) get blobs (but not all odd threads get blobs).
Reading a blobbed thread doesn't make it show as read, but reading an unblobbed thread below a blobbed thread makes both of them show as read!
Simply read all of the odd threads.
Mark in notebook which thread was an odd one and what color the blob was.
Then proceed to the even threads.
Note in the aforementioned notebook which even threads were read and what color the blob was before reading it. After refreshing (and pressing F5 to clear your cache) then note which color the even thread blobs are in your notebook. Disregard all odd threads.
Then all you have to do is read the even threads, but only those with the green blob. Simply note the thread titles to these threads and then refresh (as before). Then you can read the odd threads, but skip the ones that show up as read and those with the green blobs, as you have already read those ones (don't be redundant, silly!).
Now you are almost caught up with your unread threads.
To double check that you didn't miss anything important, all you have to do is this:
Reboot your system.
Now: Download a fresh version of Firefox from the Mozilla website.
Start Firefox and log on to RHP.
Write down all the thread titles in the general forum *VERY IMPORTANT: If you don't do this you will be denied access to your games*
Reinstall the RHP userscripts. To find the Url to these just do a simple search with "Ouborous user scripts" in the search field.
Then restart Firefox, log in to RHP and enjoy.
Glad I could help.
*edit: Forgot to mention: You have to log on to RHP to do the above.*
I think the greasemonkey script problem has now been corrected.
ouroboros is the member who has provided many of these scripts so I contacted him about the problem. In a very short period of time he had the problem corrected and an updated version is now available. Once installed everything should be back to normal.
A big thanks to ouroboros !
