the UN Food Program has a link to FreeRice, and endorses it: http://www.wfp.org/english/?n=681
also, FreeRice claims not to make a profit, so presumably the operator could be charged with fraud if he is making a profit. innocent until proven guilty, i say.
but this guy isn't even a non-profit. he isn't registered as a non-profit. he says he'd have to publish his books in that case, and we'll just have to trust him.

instead of working 10 hours on freerice.com to earn 50 cents worth of rice, why not work 10 hours digging ditches, cut 40 pct to the tax man, and donate the rest to the World Food Programme?
10 x $5 x 0.60 = $30
you'd have to work 600 hours on freerice.com to match that!
Originally posted by zeeblebotas already explained, freerice is a LEISURE ACTIVITY, that is fun, educational, and just happens to result in rice being given to the poor. it's not appropriate to compare it to digging ditches. you don't 'work' 10 hours on freerice - you play the game for as long as you feel like, and at the end of the day you've killed a little time and made some rice for the hungry. why can't you grasp that?

the choice for most people is not 'will i play freerice or will i go out digging ditches?', but 'will i play freerice or will i play chess/xbox/watch tv etc?'
Originally posted by zeeblebotWhat about 100 people playing freerice? What about 1,000? It adds up. I'm sure the starving family in Africa that gets to eat tonight isn't complaining about it.
