@relentless-red saidHe's getting a relatively large number of thumbs down when he talks about his radio show, though.
From what I know of Phil I like him. I wish him well. I really hope people listen to his work and it goes well. I like his posting style.
@instantkarma777 saidPhil created a thread about the show in our private club (which includes many of the regular posters here) and 'only' received thumbs up and positive comments, 'including' from Relentless Red. I think that is quite telling.
Ghost of a Duke is right.
You started off by introducing some information to a very fine radio broadcast.
Then you trashed your own thread by alienating people because you think they dislike you.
One wonders if there is merit in the possibility that some people here may not like you.
I have listened to the show and found it interesting. There were no thumbs down from Dublin.
@relentless-red saidWhat does this have to do with From Colchester to Sulawesi though, or Bill's Big Bag of Onions, for that matter?
I intensely dislike your posting style. I suspect that a lot of others do as well and hence the red thumbs. I won't go into detail as to why because I don't believe you would listen.
@relentless-red saidThere's nothing amiss about my "relationship with this community" though. And I have been successful at promoting the radio show. I have posted regular updates and links. There has been nothing amiss about the promotion of the show.
On one occasion I have tried to point out to you quite sincerely that if you repaired your relationship with this community you would be more successful at promoting your radio show here.
@relentless-red saidThe links are there. If people want to listen to Indonesia Phil [and Paula's] story - and the Bag Of Onions before it - that's fine. If they don't want to, that's fine. They can listen to it anonymously if they want to. They can not listen to it anonymously if they want to. Either way, it's fine.
I am sure you have no interest in whether I listen or whether a handful of people who click on thumbs listen. Perhaps you value your posting here sufficiently that you really don't care if it turns people off. That's your right to chose.
@fmf saidYou don't believe peoples' experiences of a person posting in a forum effects their desires to listen to their work?

Are you an advocate of all publicity is good publicity?
@relentless-red saidI haven't misrepresented you.
I now only respond to you because you insist on misrepresenting me. I intend to generally ignore your posts because I really can't be bothered with the numerous responses that I will get in return. You will basically misrepresent me in a series of posts whilst attacking those strawmen.
@relentless-red saidIf they don't listen, that's OK by me. And I don't really mind what their reason is for not doing so. If they don't have the "desire" to listen, what does it matter? The links are there for people who do have the "desire". It doesn't matter how many there are in each category.

@relentless-red saidI have noted you love to argue, one thing we must agree on! 🙂

@relentless-red saidIf you don't want to listen to Phil and Paula's story, then don't. Both you and I post in the way we see fit. Why would I change the way I post in order to make you want to listen to Phil and Paula's story?
I wish Phil well and I hope people listen to his work. I hope you post in a style that will increase the numbers from this community who want to listen to it, but if you convince yourself that I am the problem and that there is nothing you need to change in your posting style towards members of this forum community then that is your choice, but it is also the real problem.
Let's just re-set the thread and pretend the toxic second post didn't happen. Here's the OP:
A new series of Bill's Big Bag of Onions has begun: episode one of series 5 was aired in the UK last night.
This series features a serialized, almost-entirely-true story about a British couple upping sticks in middle England, in mid-life, and settling in a remote part of Indonesia where they start a business.
A finely crafted piece of episodic writing by none other than Indonesia Phil and his better half.

@relentless-red saidDo you listen to his work?
I wish Phil well and I hope people listen to his work.
@fmf saidThis quote is a quick example of misrepresentation.
Relentless Red seems to have suggested that it is you and I who are "trashing" our own radio show because he finds our posting unimpressive.
In general your posting suggests to me that you believe your written interpretation of others' posting is the truth and that if they say otherwise they are liars who should be cross questioned for pages. If they get caught up in defending themselves from your misrepresentations rather than just walking away you become quite venomous.
