Respect your right to an opinion. Interested also in your description of strength. I've no use for wimps afraid to speak their mind. Now or ever.

You're a good guy. No malice aforethought associated with you. I've no beef with you per se. Sometimes you put forward some very, ah, well, thoughts that one's granddaughter might describe as "sweet". Me - I've got a fairly rough exterior. I'm aware of that and comfortable with it. As for strength - you either bend to an external force or you don't. Fairly straightforward, as far as I see it.

Water's power comes not from resisting or refusing to yield, but it adapts easily to flow around anything in it's path and cannot be stopped. Water overcomes obstacles not by destroying them with a sudden burst of force but with persistence, gradually wearing away the rocks in the bed of a river or the cliffs on the seacoast.

Way too philosophical for me. Have you been watching Kung Fu?

Gentle Proposition for 2009: That smarts and excellence in virtually any area of human knowledge, skill or endeavor are achieved (if at

all) patiently and by degree, and that the mechanics of achievement always involve correct daily priorities and maximum concentration.

Quite sure overall building block progres ...[text shortened]... in the arenas of professional career skills as well as chess prowess. What think ye?

It's possible you are correct...but I'm just a stupid baby boomer, so what do I know?? 😏

I just wanted to illustrate there is more than one way to resist. 🙂

Glad to see you back Sas, I'll buy ya a beer. 🙂

One could do worse, much worse, than being from the 'stupid baby boomer' vintage.

Sure. One could be a cross-dresser or a Neo-Nazi. Barring that, there's not much farther to fall.

Howdy, High Priest of the Higher Altitudes, how's by you? By the way, everybody's got to be somewhere and from some exotic vintage.

Ah, childhood memories! 🙂

Europa hatte zweimal Krieg,

Mensch! Menschen können Menschen sein:
Das weiche Wasser bricht den Stein

The quiet rage is building inside me. By 4:30 PM Eastern Standard Time, I will have taken on the mannerisms of a crazed rabid dog inside my own house, surely leading to my wife working very hard on coming up with good reasons to stay married to me. Kickoff's at 4:42 PM. Some Eagles defensive end with sinister intentions is going to cram one or more footballs down the gullet of young Tarvaris Jackson, and that good but unfortunate soul will be considering another line of work.
