Promised to build a housing scheme for his villagers. Gave a national holiday where they partied all day and drove him home in a motorcade.
A really big fuss .. but thats small island life. I guess Jamaica and Grenada would have done similar things.
The guy is a poor 19 yr old from a poor fishing village. He grew up throwing bamboo rods on the beach. Good for him .. great underdog success story .. broke several records at the Olympics.
