Nice try lads, but apparently not good enough. What has stopped me posting though, is the fact that internet cafes need identification cards to use now, due to the rioters in Urumuqi using them to orchestrate their riot.

Im using a Japanese laptop right now, one of the wifes cousins works in japan half the year. This means that punctuation is impossible. Thank you to whoever posted the @ sir sietse thread for allowing me to copy/paste the @ synbol.

Internet cafes are on an identification card basis, due to the rioters of Urumuqi. As its nearly the 60th celebrations, you can understand if they are a little edgy about these things.

The holiday is a blast, the wedding was a chore, but the beer is .20 to .50 of a euro in the supermarkets, so who can complain. Weve enough dry good bought for the cases back to pay for the flights in savings.

I went on a Karaoke night with the wife, her friend, and her friends Japanese husband the evening of the wedding. If i wanted to talk to the Jap guy, i had to tell my wife, who told her friend, who translated it into Japanese...and vice versa....It was a great night, i have to say.

Chinese wedings are a strange affair. They start at 8am, and finish about 1pm. I was actually quite nervous about giving my speach in chinese....all my own work....in front of 300 people...Right until they played the pre-entry music for my wife to come in. It was the theme for Starwars.....I Fooking buckled. I half expected her to come in with buns on the side of her head, and a laser gun in her hand. I was told that part of the gig was that i had to go around the tables and light cigarettes for the guests. I was sure it was a gestural thing, but there was a girl behind me with a tray of cigarettes and and matches, and i had to hand each guest one, then light it. The guests would then hand a red envelope to my wife, and her bridesmaid would stash it in a red bag.

I dont really have time to go further in to it. ill post more when i get a chance.

OH! Please post some pics of the traditional Chinese wedding!
Would love to see some of the ceremonies you had to partake of, if you don't mind that is.

I'm guessing they didn't care. After that, it cut into a chinese version of Loch lomond, as her and her dad walked to a flower bridge type thing, and waited for me to walk to them and ask for her hand.
The whole thing started with a big firework display outside our house at 8am....and when i say fireworks, i mean fireworks. When i heard a similar display earlier that week, i thought it was thunder.....a lot of thunder.

Thanks for the news, Huck. Great read. Maybe next time a few comments on local chess activity and the ceremonial wedding cuisine?
