Question:
does this only apply to those without amazon accounts? (I'd suspect so: there's little 'advertising' to registered users). In which case many common amazon users wouldn't effect anything. Maybe chess-specific links amazon might pay for, but then there's a big reduction in number of buys.

Would also need to have location-specific links (amazon.com, .co.uk, .au and so on and so on).

The link on the other forun i go to just took me to the amazon home page (yes i do have an account there), so as far as i know, whatever one buys through the link Russ will get a slice of the action. It all helps to keep the site running hunky dory.
As for the specific locale links, more than likely. But could start with .uk & .com maybe. But that one`s up to Russ and Chris.

I do a large order ($200-300) on amazon every month or two. If there was a link here which would give the site something, I would use it every time. I'm sure there would be plenty of others who would make the effort too.

Yup: if amazon can be convinced to give cash to RHP for old rope, then I'm game.

Well, I order just about all my online stuff via amazon. They have great prices, free shipping over 25 bucks and are very reliable.

If Russ puts up the link, I'd follow it!

I have used amazon.com and almost certainly will buy from them again.

OTOH, as I understand it (possibly MISunderstand it) the link makes money for the linker (e.g., RHP) if and only if the buyer connects directly to the product that is actually bought by way of the link. That is, if you connect to some random page on amazon.com from a link on RHP and then go on to some other page to make your purchase, the source (RHP) does not get a cut as they would if you went directly to a specific product (e.g., a chess book) and bought that.

I could easily be misinformed, so it would probably be good to check that out. If I do turn out to be wrong and any time you arrive at amazon from a link, the source of the link can get a cut, then I would make any and all amazon purchases via a link at RHP.

Best Regards,
Paul

I`m not too sure, but almost every time i go to amazon i`m at a different page, be it through a link or direct. So most likely once you`re on the site it doesn`t matter what you get. But i could be wrong. Maybe i`ll leave that bit to Russ to work out lol.

Wow, you starting a library!?

Yes, I've ordered there a couple times, and if Russ had a link that would help him make some cash.... I'd use that next time also!

So please people, just a simple yes or no will be fine.

This is for a very good cause by the way.
