home internet is costing me alot. i currently have an old flip phone and am thinking of getting a used smartphone ( bellieve it is android operated ). want to have a phone and internet on same device ( alot cheaper ) but have never used a smartphone to play chess.

it is okay ? is it really hard to move pieces ? is it too small to view to be comfortable ?

any persons who have such a system and play chess on it, please reply.

( i know where you live so no smarty smarty replies ! )

@the-grifter

Hi, I play now and then on the smartphone. It is small, and I tend to be faster moving on the phone (and more error prone). But I know that some people use the phone exclusively.

Shut off your home internet (and TV for that matter!) Go to your local library and use their system. You can get on the RHP site from there, print off your current game positions, then go home, set up your board and analyze your games to your hearts content. Just 1 year of this will save you over $1000.00. Don't let internet and TV cable companies bleed your money every month. I did this for 2 years during the recession of 2008-09. 🙂

Then go back to the library, make your moves and do it again each day, several times a day. Who’s got the time or the inclination to bother with all that?

Hello - Longer time control tournaments are available on RHP. I visited the library twice a week, and it worked fine for me; in addition, taking the extra time to analyze each position deeply will produce better results (something you might consider doing yourself!)

You don't need to play correspondence chess as if it were blitz.

Most people won’t want to extend their time controls to every three days so they can go to the library twice a week to make them.

And I’m unmoved by your repeated jibes at my chess rating; what is the point in being better at a game if you have to put your life on hold to do it.

Silly person.

What's wrong with that?

I was making a suggestion so you could get better results. If you don't want better results, I guess that's your privilege.

Is it your place to make such suggestions? I've reviewed some of your past games and you're hardly Kasparov.

Would like to give a critique of your current level, (to suggest how you could get better results) but you haven't played a game for nearly a year.

Ah, that old chestnut. Chess-ability banter.

You read the post I was replying to right?

I never mention a persons chess rating/ability, unless they have themselves tried to belittle the ability of somebody else. In chess, we all have much to learn and the game is enjoyable at every level.

That the dreary mchill has stooped to that level, yet again, is a dog bites man story.

I don't know, does one need a rating of over 2000 in order to suggest spending more time on each move in order to obtain better results? I'd like to hear your suggestion. 🙂
