Hermann Hesse favorite book is?

I read a lot of Hesse as a teenager, and my favourite at that time was "Demian". I still like "Das Glasperlenspiel" ("The Glass Bead Game" ), but on the whole I am not too fond of Hesse anymore. A lot of his writing is far too rapturous for my taste, and his view of women is just disgusting. I never finished "Narziss und Goldmund" because I couldn't bear it any longer.
