Let me just clarify:

The end of hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy (which of course is in the sequel The Restauarant at the end of the Universe) is:

caveman like creature makes 42 with scrabble tiles.

Arthur Dent randomly selects tiles which read: what do you get if you multiply 9 * 6

The whole thing is screwed up because Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect have travelled back in time, landed on the Earth, thereby causing a glitch in the programming of the supercomputer, that is, the earth.

So 42 appears at the end as well. So sod off Bowmann et al.

"Piss" on my parade?? You into water sports Bowmann?

Well if you're going to be pedantic about it, the thing that screwed it all up had nothing to do with Arthur and Ford, they were just observers. What messed it all up was the Golgafrinchan (or however you spell it) ship that crash landed. The people from that crash populated the Earth instead of the native ape-descendants.

So there 😛

The end...?

Just how much of it have you listened to or read?

I have read:

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

and also The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul.

But twas 15 years ago.

I have never heard the radio version but then I am not as old as you Bowmann.

What about 'So long and thanks for all the fish' and 'Mostly Harmless'?

Didn't all the characters die in the end? I read the whole series a while ago.

Ah, that explains your ignorance.

You see, you've mixed up HHG with Dirk Gently. You're all confused.

Just to clarify I have not confused Long Dark Teatime of the Soul, I didn't mention Dirk Gently, you could have inferred that from what I have already posted.

In terms of the original point of this thread though...

The poster said don't ruin the film for me.

How does the film end?

With the same ending as in The Restaurant at the end of the Universe, or doesn't it as I haven't seen the bloody thing yet.
So I explained the ending in that book.
