So if a bloke fancied a girl in one country he would be a paedophile, but if he took her to another country he would suddenly become not a paedophile - very strange.
Typically while the age of consent may be low there are normally legal safeguards to protect minors from the prurience of the 'raincoat brigade.'
Generally, these lower age of consents are only valid if the older partner is close in age and sexual maturity and also if the younger party does not lodge a complaint.

The age of consent in Northern Ireland is 17 though if a 17 year old were to have sex with a 16 year old and no complaint was made I doubt that it would be prosecuted.
Personally, I think that the law should start by protecting at a higher age of consent and then negotiate individual cases based on factors like relative ages; if a complaint was made, context of the act etc. This isn't as feasible in countries where people marry at a very young age.

Your post is typical of what the forums have become in the past several months. I can't believe that it makes me long for Bowmann, Moldy Crow, No.1 Marauder, etc., but it's true. My star will be absent before too long. You won't miss me and I certainly won't miss you.
