I can juggle four. Each additional item gets exponentially harder to juggle...
I have a friend who can manage five, but I haven't broken that barrier yet.

Four are usually done by juggling two on each side. You can throw them synchronously, but it looks better if you do it asynchronously (I actually find that easier, too).

Tennis balls are far from ideal, they are too light. Try apples instead...
