but if i do a quick +'s and -'s for 'trev's happiness' in peru and ireland we get a different result.
Of course "we get a different result." Do two columns, one each for Peru and Ireland. Each column contain a number of +'s and -'s. Simply net them out, to determine which location (in your own objective assessment) ranks a higher net positive for 2008 and 2009.

margin of difference sufficient to justify or motivate moving back to Peru?

Edit: By the way, pretty much reflects my play of mind in selecting one
of several chess moves, whenever there seem to be toss-up options.

the weather is key though, you have no idea how depressing it is to see rain day after day after day, it's supposed to be summer and it has been raining all day and it's pretty cold. we've already had our 1 week of summer in june. the place i fell in love with in peru (huaraz) has 2 seasons, wet and dry. 4 months of pretty much guaranteed blue skies at about 20c (what's that 70f?) perfect. even in the wet season it's nice until about 4 when it's start raining very heavily for 2 or 3 hours. plus during the wet season it's the summer on the coast (only 8 hours away...about $8-12 by bus)
before i go i'm going to do as much fund raising as possible and use it all to volunteer in an orphanage for as long as possible. i regret not doing a long stint last time.

and near future direction/location are becoming clear. Only step remaining is timing, which of course relates to financial reality.
