It's now a category 4 hurricane with winds at 145 mph. They say it may go more east and hit Fort Myers, Florida but we will still get a lot of rain and high winds in the Tampa Bay area. I'm so sorry for those that are going to be affected by it. A lot of lives at stake and some serious property damage.
Of course, things could change here soon and it could continue heading north. No fun here in the Sunshime State.
Yeah, the folks on CNN are really starting to freak out about this thing. A piece of advice, if I may...
I learned from the movie "Twister" that if poo really hits the fan you can anchor yourself (and loved one) to some plumbing with your belt. In spite of the fact that semi-trucks, houses and cows seem to be unable to remain affixed to the land...you and your belt will hold. I know it is kinda counter-intuitive, but we must not forget these lessons for just these reasons. 😉
Good luck!

Never heard that one! LOL
Now tie the waist shut and you can ware it over your head like a normal PFD.
The pants must be wet to hold air... but if you are in the water wet pants is not a problem!
Dude, you need to read tmetzler's Vacation setting!

I'm here in West Palm Beach (slightly outside what is now considered the danger zone) and we're getting some pretty fierce winds right now, and we're expected to get a nice dose of rainfall any hour now. We've had the Weather Channel on all morning and the friggin' hurricane keeps edging more east, meaning W.P.B. will most likely get more rain and wind than originally expected.
I've only been through one hurricane in my life (when I lived in Miami), and ironically it was one of Florida's worse, Hurricane Andrew! I believe I was onlyyy... I dunno, maybe 6 or 7 when it hit, and I'll never forget squeezing a look outside one of our boarded windows to see all the carnage going on outside. Trees flying down the street, branches and twigs ramming themselves into our cars and our shed, my Playhouse missing in action (I miss my playhouse 🙁)... It was quite frightening.
Anyway, best of luck to all of you on the west coast of Florida. I don't normally pray that much but I'll send you a prayer tonight. 😉 Ta.
