Until you work a 10 pm - 6 am shift at a gas station in a bad part of Vancouver... where the hookers come in for smokes at 2 am and drip on the floor (yep, you heard me... drip... little puddles on the floor of the station) ... and the highlight of your night is cleaning the heroin needles out of the public restroom.

Columbia & 12th in New Westminster, perfect cross-street that brings together blue-collar day labourers with the drug dealers who made their living off the skytrain crowd.
I drove to Vancouver without a penny to my name, and that disgusting job is how I kept myself off welfare for a year until I found something better.
People who live with their parents until they're making $50k just make me want to puke. If you're not tough enough to keep yourself alive, then you shouldn't be.
