I think the point here is why would a 1600-ish player want to advertise the fact he's just won a tournament for people c.500 points below his level? It's like Manchester United bragging about winning a non-League cup...

What's there to be proud of in winning a tournament you're massively over-qualified for?
He was not "massively over-qualified for" at the time he joined it and you repeatedly don't get this point.
I don't see why he should be ashamed : should I be ashamed of winning this tournament (if I'll ever see the end of it....) Tournament 100 ???

Originally posted by ivangriceIt absolutely matters what his rating was at the beginning of the tournament. It means that if he was over-qualified at the end of the tournament, it was because he had become much better, which is something to boast about. The other players had the same chances to become better.

Sorry for repeating myself.

Are you sure Rav? Peter9 and DigitGus are not named amongst the 'hall of shamed' players? I have had a few drinks tonight but I have checked the list twice (maybe I'm too pissed).
The list is only active since a couple of months, that's why you never see in it historic cheats like Jameswoodley,tlai1992,Blobby,etc.etc..............
Originally posted by ivangriceI must say, you cannot expect him to resign the games once the tournament is going and he appears to be a bit overqualified for it while the tournament is underway. Yet again, this tournament started somewhere in april. I have played Abejnood in januari and back then I knew he was a much better player than I am, although I am not sure if his rating back then was around 1600 (I believe he just suffered one of those time-out blows).

I am convinced Abejnood knew his chess playing skills before entering this tournament.
Originally posted by RavelloBloody hell thanks for pointing that out! I'm not exactly sure if I should pleased or pissed off, at the moment I'm leaning towards being extremely pissed off (hopefully tomorrow I can be optimistic about this). Does anyone have any contact details for either Peter9, fckallie or DigitGus? I definately feel agrieved about this.

Originally posted by RavelloIf someone gets to any rating, it means they are capable of playing at that rating (otherwise they wouldn't be there, timeouts notwithstanding).
Wake up dude, just because he had a 1600 spike in August in his rating graph doesn't mean he's a 1600 player,he's rated 950 now........
I played him and estimate his strength as about 1200-1300,surely not a 1600 ;you're quite stretching the point here.
And my point is - why boast about the tournament win *now*, when the 1600 barrier has been reached, and he has showed himself as a much better player than people you would expect to find in a much lower band?
I'm not saying a person shouldn't play on in a tournament situation like the one we're discussing - but why boast about the win in a public forum?
Originally posted by ivangriceBecause of the simple fact that he has boasting rights. I am sure kasparov won lots of tournaments before he became the rating he is now.

I think all of you crybabies who aint won nothin for yourselves should call the FIDE or who ever and have them take away all of Kasparov's trophies. Just give them your logic and it will be done.
Sorryass bunch of losers!
