I was in the car the other day with the radio on, think it was City FM, they said that it was a shame that Harry died in the end, I thought, FFS, its not worth watching it now!
I dont know if its true or not but just thought that a radio station would have had a little more sense than to say something like that!

I couldn't say if you're missing out on the films, I've only seen the first two and apprarently the fifth one is terrible. Because the books are so long, they end up missing out a lot of the sub plots which loses some of the "magic" of it.
As for the books, it's definatly worth giving it a go reading them. They're infectious, and if you have any of t ...[text shortened]... won't be able to put them down. They're put together really well and make a great read.
Not my cup of tea, but I can see how it can be addictive, especially for a younger audience. I find it a bit surprising how so many adults also get addicted, but to each his own.

It's quite hilarious the number of adults who will get on the tube, and start "reading" golf monthly or whatever, without realising everyone else can see they actually have the latest Harry Potter under there. But you do see a lot of adults reading it. Especially because if you consider it all started 9 or 10 years ago, people who are reaching even 26 years old, were probably still bought up with the book and have kept their fascination with it.
