The post that was quoted here has been removedIf that is the way then that is cool, all I know is from what I "knew" of the guy he had become a chess-nut (groan!) and lets face it we all have a hobby!
I have asked for feedback as to why he was banned and will let you know if I hear anything.
Oh and if he turns out to be a grandmaster who slates this site .....

I can't count the number of times I've run into people who said they played chess and claimed they were "really good" because they beat all their friends, then did some squirrely thing in the opening like move their "a" and "h" pawns to bring their rooks out.
It's comparable to someone who lobs tennis balls back and forth in high school PE and can beat everyone thinking that they could enter a professional tennis tournament and do well.

Going from a 1200 player with a long history of sucking to 2100 with a enormous string of no losses against good players is generally a good indication, yes.
