All personal information, including IP addresses, are private, and not available to anyone in the moderation teams (game and forum). I should state that I am in both teams though, and such information is obviously available to site admins, but it is not published.

Have any members of any "teams" (game and forum) used technology to see if a user has an engine running?
I see from another thread that this happens on many other chess sites. Or does RHP use just "edyoucated" sic, guesswork

edit: so can Father Christmas

P.S. How could Russ or anyone else be using monitoring software when many (if not most) of us are behind some pretty hardcore firewalls. I know for fact he has no clue as to what I'm running on my computer.
No software on this site inspects the processes running on your PC
But this is now becoming quite common for software that is installed as a client - for example, installing software to play poker online. After reading about the efforts to defeat 'bots on online casinos, I learnt that some software will check other processes on the machine AND take screenshots of your desktop to be sent back to base. Extreme.

It looks as though the answer is yes!

NO means NO... duh
Where does Russ ever give my straight question a straight NO?
Instead he answers with waffle that skirts the direct question.
But the real worry is that even if Russ eventually says a straight NO, I already have a straight YES from a member of one of his teams.
Therefore even with my stunted intelligence I can see that either a site team member is a liar, or Russ is.
Pretty worrying either way me thinks
Since when did frogs grow brown tongues anyway

I play from work. I work at a company with 5,000 employees and I play from different computers depending on where I happen to be working at the time. Of course, the company has some pretty seriuos software and hardware firewalls and I have never downloaded anything from the internet to any of the computers (no downloads required to play here, remember). Tell me how these guys are breaking through my company's firewalls and finding exactly which computer I'm on and seeing which programs I'm running......
I'm not alone in this situation. Tons of us play from work under similar circumstances. Almost like "chess at work".
