Linda.
Its becuase stupid, nasty, self centred people in positions of power and influence are allowed to spout their ugly views unchallenged that many of the ghastly things that happen in this world have occured.

Apathy is a dangerous thing!

i think this shows to some extent how an argument could start in the place of i discussion. three things need to be concidered,

1) will misslead repsond to the argument?
2) is latex bishop trying to move a discusion about how the forums turn in to arguments, in to an argument about who should have power and who abuses it? a valid discussion but one that should be started on a new thread.
3) is this post going to provoke latex bishop to try to argue with me?

1) Who knows,
2) It was more an agreement with misslead's statement of the importance of allowing clever people to speak, too often the wrong people are allowed to speak for all of us in this world.
2a) I think strict thread adherance went a while ago in the general forum, in any case the post I replied too did state a "world" context.
3) I have nothing to argue about, as I do not really disagree with anything you said in your last post.

😀 My opinion is the same. i mean, it's only a game. if people can't stand a little humor (😳) it's their loss. part of the game can involve a little tauting. you never know how good a player can become when you "pressed a few buttons."

Is this a response?
I am not responding.
This post is not in any way a response,it is just so you know I will not respond to the post that said will miisslead respond.

I disagree. Chess is, and should be, a civilized game. If you're going to try and "push your opponent's buttons" then you should do so not with verbal taunting or mockery, but by making interesting, thought-provoking moves and consistently exploiting their weaknesses.

What argument they were agreeing with each other, without saying it in so many words. Only someone looking for an argument would find it in Andrew's words. As is obvious from Linda's lack of response, because she did not need to respond.

I'm glad a lot of people have responded. Those who know me, know that I have a very sarcastic sense of humor and love a good discussion. It just appeared that a few people were getting their knickers in a knot and I thought I'd throw this out to get some discussion going. I agree with you guys in that everyone should know that things are said without a personal attack intended. It just seemed like a few were taking things personally.

Thanks for the posts!
