...finally going to prevail at the Oscars this year? Couldn't believe it when Cold Mountain wasn't nominated for Best Picture,but that just about guarantees RotK will cop the jack. It's about time those fossils that run the Academy realized that action,adventure,and sci-fi films are a legitimate genre. But I see they still denigrated RotK by not nominating any of the actors in the film.

Like you Sundown, I am an atheist and believe the bible to be garbage. But I have to say, your post in the other thread, as well as your posts here, are going way overboard and I completely understand offense taken at your words. I may not believe in God, but it is everyone's choice and I am not going to come in here and say that people who do believe are brainwashed idiots like you did. If the RC Church is your enemy, then keep it there, not directed towards the people who believe in the church.

nccrosby-you may be right,but I'm not going to stoke the flames on this issue any more. Besides,this thread was supposed to be about the Oscars,so I suggest we get back to that. One other surprize was how The Missing was shut out. I thought Tommy Lee Jones was fantastic in that,and might slip in for Best Actor.

I know very well that forum debates can get very heated - I've been involved in many myself (not here) when I have been driven half-mad by other posters and it is easy to understand why things sometimes degenerate into word wars that start to attack the poster rather than the post - I've spent a lot of time over in the Financial Times House Price forum lately (for some reason) - where highly knowledgable financial commentators end up all but coming to blows.
We can't allow this site's forums to go back to how they were in the bad old days where 75% of all discussion was actually about the state of the forums themselves.
Please feel free to contact me with your concerns - it's almost impossible to keep all posters happy, but I will try.

Chris-Everything is cool now. Chancremechanic and I have posted each other and agreed to bury the hatchet(not in each other's skull!). I will admit that I expressed my views with less tact needed,but I've never been one for mincing words. I detests this here beating around the bush. However,to avoid future confrontations,I will confine myself to forums on chess/film/music.

Now what's that all about? If other Christians on the site are deciding to turn the other cheek, surely that's because they're acting like Christians? And aren't the meek supposed to inherit the earth? I'm afraid I don't remember Jesus having too many macho rants, but maybe I skipped those pages...
