It can happen...

'It can happen to ordinary people and it has to me. You can almost awaken in the middle of the night. Think about going downstairs,

finding a piece of paper and pencil, writing whatever it was down and going back up to bed, rolling over to get back to sleep... and in

the morning over coffee remember all of it as a dream, until you stumble upon that piece of paper.' -James Taylor (World Cafe, NPR).

And the piece of paper says:

Just shower the people you love with love
Show them the way that you feel
Things are gonna work out fine if you only will

So that's where you get all your ideas for forum posts! 😛

He can't find a piece of paper and pencil at night, so he wakes up to a new thread in the forum rather than a piece of paper.

You can almost awaken in the middle of the night. Think about going downstairs,

finding a piece of paper and pencil, writing whatever it was down and going back up to bed, rolling over to get back to sleep... and in

the morning over coffee remember all of it as a dream, until you stumble upon that piece of paper and discover that it was a suicide note.

You feel slightly dizzy and weightless and suddenly you're looking down on your collapsed body, laying on the floor beneath you in a spreading puddle of urine.

Oooh, it's like M. Night Shyamalan wrote that post. I have chills.

I am having trouble sleeping. I have started to stay up later and later...knitting, playing chess, reading. This morning it was 2:00 a.m. before I turned out my light. I have sisters who go to bed at 8:00 p.m. and wake at 5:00 a.m. If I went to bed at 8:00 p.m. I'd be awake at 11:00 p.m. and that would be it! What gives? Sorry, Bob, this is not what you want for this thread. But, the fact that you can go back to sleep is a plus. Not knowing that you were not dreaming and really did get up and write something could be a bit troubling!

It HAS happened to me. My dreams are much better then real life because I can control them and make things out of the ordinary happen, also I come up with some good chess ideas so I keep a board by my bed and if I dream of a plan the first thing I do when I wake up is analyse my dream moves and quite often there is something useful to be found... but also there can be nothing.

Fully explained before. Virtually all posts occur during errands or trips to the dumpster; thread ideas are born in the shower or in waking dreams.

All I did, Lady Ale, was to paraphrase New England musician James Taylor. For you I recommend warm milk late and cuddling up with Mr. Ale.

We're on the same page, Tychex. Few late nights ago made a really dumb bishop move, as black, against Checkagain in my Policestate

Clan game. So true that our subconscious night shift is productive. Next morning over coffee the realization came flooding in. Check it out.

Nice one, Andy. Taylor's song with the "... Stockbridge to Boston." refrain I came to love before Songbird's fireplace sharing dry white wine.

Wouldn't deny the truth or kid you for the world. RHP chess captured my interest in July, 2007. Seven months later by en passant this forum.
