And the Man ruined the ozone, he's burning down the Amazon, and he kidnapped Shamu and put her in a chlorine tank! And there used to be a way to stick it to the Man. It was called rock 'n roll, but guess what, oh no, the Man ruined that, too, with a little thing called MTV! So don't waste your time trying to make anything cool or pure or awesome 'cause the Man is just gonna call you a fat washed up loser and crush your soul. So do yourselves a favor and just GIVE UP!
Let's just say that High Fidelity would have been pure crap without Black.
Other than that I can't say much about him. I do know that School of Rock
didn't exactly rock. 😕

Ok, maybe he had a few good rants here and there, but all in all, the film did not rock. Much. In my opinion. 😕

How can you people not like Jack Black? School of Rock is one of my favorite movies. Creepy, I just saw it today. Shallow Hal, Orange County, Nacho Libre: all great movies he was in. King Kong was OK, haven't seen Kung Fu Panda yet, but a friend said it was great.

In this case though, I have to disagree. I took my 8 year-old son to see it. After the movie, I thought, "hey great kids' movie" and "not a bad one for me to sit through" (I've sat through far too many Shrek/penguin/Thomas the Train...etc. movies), but really not my cup of tea as a standalone production.
I'm not being a movie snob either. I do like my share of mindless movies.
I don't know what it is, but for some reason, Jack Black is like fingernails on a chalkboard for me.

I feel the same way about Will Ferrell.
I enjoy Tenacious D, but have to admit I don't care for Black as an actor.
I also used to hate adam sandler, but then I saw little nicky, and started to like him a bit. after that I realized almost all of his movies have pretty heavy themes, and eventually started liking him a lot.
oh, and rob schneider belongs to the same category. the guy is hauling his dead wife's prosthetic leg all over europe acting as a manwhore, now that's comedy! haven't seen anything else but the gigolo movies, but both made me laugh my ass off.
I really have a rotten sense of humor though. I enjoy both really bad and really good movies, but it's the mediocre ones I have most trouble with. like american pie etc, can't stand them.
Originally posted by wormwoodWill Ferrel is OK, but Adam Sandler is a tit. Like Ben Stiller, they get typecast all the time into the same bloody character.

Sometimes I think the scriptwriters shouldn't even change their cast character names. That would actually be funny.
Originally posted by Crowleysandler does have that reoccurring gag 'you can do it!' in almost all his movies, where rob schneider shouts it as a hillbilly bozo, and sandler returns the favour in rob's movies. 🙂

I think sandler writes his scripts himself? well, probably not all of them, but he's written quite a lot of scripts.
in 'punch drunk love' sandler was great. and I don't mean campy great, but great like jim carrey in 'eternal sunshine of the spotless mind'.
