I think all threads should "time out" after a certain number of days with nobody moving in them. Then if 10 people click the skull they go away.

I posted a proof game in the Puzzles forum, and it took days for anyone to solve it. I'd hate to see threads like that get deleted after 24 hours.

The fact that someone did actually solve it shows that people can get something out of a thread even if it has no posts other than the original one.

Swiss, how about exempting specialized forums which (I'm guessing) elicit less knee jerk posting

volume. Maybe applicable only to the General Forum. Any merit in policy by category ? -gb

The suggestion would cover only General which would be a good idea...

Some threads need to be long.
Like my "One move a day" at Chess Only Forum...

Totally agree DESTROY THEM ALL

Lets get rid of the forums. They are just a place for festering sores that never get better as they are constantly scratched played with and torn asunder.

Look how much worse they have become since the removal of the rec system.

The only way to sort the problem and free up server space is the total removal of this outlet.

Lets start a campaign.

I'm all for destroying crap. Absolutely.

However, I think the "Word assossiation" thread should remain forever, as a testament to Starrman... so all can see what evil he befouled upon the fora for years and years...

I can already see the trolls posting recursively on a thread just to get it deleted.
