300... Yes, last movie I've seen too (saw it yesterday). I don't know why some people said it was bad. As most people know it's based on the true story of 300 Spartans stopping thousands of Persian invaders.
Of course the film adds a few details here and there to spice it up, but I can live with that. The special affects were pretty good.
Originally posted by Critai have seen this one too and it was really enjoyable. Based on the Abberton brothers it is a documentary about Maroubra beach and the guys who turned to surfing to try & stay out of trouble. It didn't always work of course and they ended up constantly in run-ins with the cops. Only touched a little on the events of the race riots. Having watched the film i am now more of the opinion that it was a media beat-up, to an extent. However, there would have been some who were there to incite racial hatred. But their drunken stupors and the things they did for fun as a result was quite funny if that appeals to your sense of humour. I've never took an interest in surfing but after watchin Kobe Abberton, it was awesome. He is fearless!
I've seen the previews - what's it like?
Boarman may have a different take on the movie.

My older brother is into that culture and he really really wants to see it so I think I might go with him.
I always enjoy watching Australian docos or (some) Australian movies. I saw Candy the other week. It's was unreal. One of the most full on movies I've ever seen.
Although I still struggle to see Noni Hazelhurst as anything other than a Play School presenter! lol

Yes, we do every now and then have a hit with some of our docos and movies, good to see. I will check Candy out as i am always at the cinema once a week looking for a good movie to watch.
ha! Play School the breeding ground or fall back for some of our actors; Deborah Maliman, Jay (that guy from Water Rats), John Waters the list goes on... and on π

Yeah, you should check it out. It's got Heath Ledger and Abbie Cornish (along with Noni and Geoffery Rush) but be warned - it's very hard hitting. Not a first date type movie.
Have you seen Little Fish? That was another Australian movie I saw a while back that I loved. Cate Blanchett and Hugo Weaving.

I have seen Little Fish which i liked. My favourite Hugo Weaving movie was Proof. Especially the part when he was sitting in the car trying to work out what he was holding and it was a condom and the guy in the car next to theirs thought he was trying to crack on to him but he was blind! still laugh at that part.
