I don't believe it. Firstly, I'd be almost ready to stake my life on the majority of the porn industry using pirate software versions of flash, since they use freelancers by the truckload, so cost isn't a problem. Secondly, HTML 5 is new and whilst one porn company may have the resources to switch, the majority move so quickly, turning out film after film ...[text shortened]... n so for a long time yet and as long as Flash is still part of their package it will too.

flash vs html5 was never about apple (who cares what the boss of a marginal company like apple thinks), but about removing the need for such klunky plugin systems. maybe it won't happen overnight, but there's really not much sense in plugins like flash after full html5 support. it's like insisting of using frames after css. obsolete.
Originally posted by StarrmanI think what you're missing here is, iPhones and iPads are not able to play Flash movies and when PC Browsers etc. all support HTML5, the porn industry will want to use just one standard.

Not every PC has Flash installed and every PC will probably have a HTML5 enabled browser in the near future.
This won't happen overnight, but it's coming.

Seriously though, the days of the Flash plugin are numbered and we are indeed headed towards a bland world of clunky OGG and MP4 videos, but what about all the other flash based interactive media? - eg: all the websites, menus, applications, etc... that are completely built in Flash.
Originally posted by CrowleyLets consider the amount of people who own ipads and iphones and watch porn on them against the number of people who have flash installed in their browsers... Seriously this is apple hot air, as usual thinking they are a lot more prevailent than they are.

HTML5 is here to stay and is obviously the future.
Developers faced with using proprietary technology that needs a browser plugin, a plugin with craploads of security problems, or using an open standard are going to be using the standard.
Flash probably won't just die out, but it's probably not going to be as prevalent on the web anymore 5 years down the line. The technology is going to be sidelined like Java...
I'm sceptical about Apple's reasons for not supporting Flash, like many other people, but Jobs turning this into a high profile 'battle' is going to put lots of pressure on Adobe.

Still there are also people who have no idea what and how to install the Flash plugin either.
At the end of the day it's going to be open standard vs. proprietary technology, and we all know how that turns out...
