I won't eat condiments at my mother in laws because they BBQ a LOT and leave the mayo, catsup and relish outside in the sun ALL DAY. Plus, they always have the huge bottles that last all summer... so it's double trouble.

When you're pregnant here they advise to only eat condiments with in the four weeks of opening. I was wondering what you do in the states becasue your suppermarkets sell food in such large containers, it must be near imposiable to eat them within the recomended time frame?

I think it is called horsey sauce when you mix horseradish and mayo. I prefer the straight horseradish myself.

That's horrible. Have they ever gotten sick from doing that? My brother leaves the ketchup out ALL THE TIME. I got to the point were I just won't eat ketchup when I visit my mom's.

Have they ever got sick? Maybe. Have I ever got sick? Twice over there... no more! One time on pork, and one time with chicken divan (sp?)

The chicken divan was the eggs I'm pretty sure... the pork was the pork.

Never heard that one about pregnancy.

I thought most condiments can't go bad on the shelf unless they were there a LONG TIME. I always refrigerate, but will keep it in the cupboard/pantry if it is not open yet.

As for mustard, I eat that stuff like... well, like mustard! I am on my second bottle in about 4 weeks, and it's almost gone.
