You can change that. But in order to do it I need to advance your mindset about 20 years. Here's some things that, if you follow them, will help you have success.

I never listened to my dad either... Ya-know, one of the things I remember about him as a kid, was opening the refrigerator door and looking inside. Within 15 seconds my dad was yelling at me, "CLOSE THE DAMN DOOR! YOU'RE WASTING MONEY!"
To this day I like to walk into my kitchen, open the refrigerator door, and pour a glass of water from the fridge while smirking at the open door. 🙂
