yeah you are right!! Strange
I don't think anyone really hits their stride until they've subscribed and can get a good string of games going. You also don't know how regularly someone has been playing before they join the site. I personally hadn't played much chess for over 10 years until I started playing here.

(sorry about my poor English hope u got my piont).

I played and drew against dscp when he first joined the site. He is a 1900+ player OTB and a very nice guy. There is nothing suspect about his rise so high. If you look at his games you'll see that he plays a LOT of 1300-1700 players and is very consistent in beating them. This is quite unlike most of the other top players who mainly play each other for their rating points, while only having 20 odd games on the go at once.

Originally posted by marinakatombI am only assuming that is strange, that means rare. No many people can do that. I did not say that he was cheating.

If anyone is in any doubt, this is our game...
Game 447288
As you can see, black has a won game. It was only out of a rare bit of end game vision on my behalf that i sneaked a draw. I think it is quite plain to see that if he had been using a program, it would have forced a win, no worries.

Soon to be posted by LivingLegEndwell done L.L.E. Game 516536 !
Well, it's more about how much and against who you play, when you play alot against 1200-1900 players in tournaments and clangames (like in my case), your rating will just go up. I seldomly beat a 2000+ player though, maybe when I'm ...[text shortened]... s at my own level, I would end up somewhere arround 1900!

and chillout a bit everyone .....
there is something wrong with the database of dscp's games .....
Game 419274
Game 419001
Game 415116
maybe this is somehow related.
(well done in your game marinakatomb - i have never drawn with a 1900 player.)

I'm playing as well as I ever have and I still lose to 1400-1500 players sometimes - I think people read far too much into the RHP rating, no matter how high it is you can still be out played or have a bad game.
Also, a 1400+ player could be a 2000+ player on his way up, like Ironman and on the flipside you suddenly see a good player like Cheshire Cat dip bellow 1000?!
The rating is only a guide and it can vary depending or how frequently or consistently someone plays here.
