Originally posted by Grampy BobbyYou know this is interesting commentary here. Most chains (excluding some really old hole's in the walls) actually use a ving style system of magnetic keys. the keys made today typically are only made for the number requested by the guest. The only other keys that will allow entry into a suite should employee's (Housekeeping, maintenence mainly, possibly a bellman), a manager's key, and an emergency key. There will be no other magnetic key made. To bust another myth, the only information stored on these keys, room number and dates the key is good for. The old (more than 20 years now) method was to have the name added to the key, possibly credit card information, but this has since been removed from all hotels to date, as it was very easy to get a reader to pull the information off.
One other friendly tip for your own sake, LOL Sunburnt: Whenever checking in at any hotel or motel always ask how many copies of the key to your room are still in the front desk tray. Old brass, maybe 5-6. Newer Ving or computer coded 2-3. Request all of them before covering the charges. Even in upscale venues rooms still get double rented. Last thing y puter encoded keycards are in play.

These keys are also typically reprogramable. and easily erased. simply by waving a semi strong magnet over them. I have even seen cell phones, and magnetic money clips wipe them out.
Anyway, You won't find the hotel giving up the hotel staff keys for any reason. and you should have already received the keys you requested with no others made.
BTW if someone does put up skype, I will be happy to give a call.

Last year it was mid August and the heat was insufferable. Here in Southern New England you can golf into mid/late December.
