So long and thanks for all the fish (part I)

I may, or may not, have mentioned that I'm going away for a while. Don't applaud too soon; I'll be here until the middle of January.

Sometimes one has to make choices and my choice has been to give everything I own to charity, quit my job and use heroic dose's of drugs. My job, to be precise, stops on the 27th of January. And within one week from then I'll be moving to India for an uncertain amount of time.

However, it could quite easily end up being Indonesia. I mean, that's nearly spelled the same...and I'm not fussy.

I will be keeping a form of travel log, in the style of patchwork of articles, with a cleverly concocted story line to boot.

This is the address: http://shavixmir.blogspot.com/

Note how I used Shavixmir...now you may applaud my cunning.

Anyways, I've started my blog as of yesterday, but due to a technical glitch I've had to delay my launch until now.
What I'll be doing is adding articles (building up to the story line of sorts) daily until I leave for India, and then I'll update it once or twice a week, depending on what happens to me.

However, I don't have enough time to write a complete daily update, so I'll be using some of the back-articles I've written over the last year which I've posted here (every now and again).
Obviously I'll be posting chronologically on the blog, so if you feel you have to comment, please play along and don't destroy the illusion that everything is happening right there and then.

Thank you.

I hope some of you will follow my story. And if you do, enjoy.

Mark

Just curious, what do you do for a living? My company went
belly up a couple months ago so I am floundering right now.
We were developing high tech photonics components, laser signal
amplifiers, etc. Bad luck for us. I am unfortunately too old to get a
real job now, was lucky to have had what I had for as long as I did.
Now destined to push light bulbs at the local home depot, yeech.

Have you _really_ tried to find Robbie Howett? (Your best friend from school, so it would seem.)

Anyway, sounds like you will have a great time. Makes me want to go travelling again.

Farewell!

(I will now studiously ignore you until you leave to avoid embarrassing silences.)

How many Dutch refugees are there in the world? Did a little border scrap with Belgium clog the roads with elderly Dutch refugees, manually hauling derelict wooden carts filled with chickens and heirlooms, while they flee in terror from the marauding Walloon dragoons?

Will we be reading of how the local curries have disagreed with your delicate constitution, resulting in the inevitable Hersey Squirts episode?

I just read your Murder on the Gym Floor, and I would like to thank you for two things.

1) It was probably the funniest of your stories yet.
2) I was able to finally try out my new fangled GreaseMonkey and more specifically Page Recolorization to change the blindness inducing white on black to the beautiful Black on White. And for that I thank you.

Have fun, and much kudos for fecking off like that. I hope to follow you within about 2-3 years.
