@sonhouse saidBing!
@Ghost-of-a-Duke
I should have known it would not have been taken seriously.
@sonhouse saidMaybe I misunderstood your question. If you are clicking on web links and it is Edge (with Bing homepage) that opens instead of Chrome, then:
Win 10, bing comes in unbidden and I have to futz with it to get to Chrome or whatever.
I looked looked up the methods and so far no good.
The only one left is the one talking about getting rid of it in registryedit.
Haven't done that yet.
But all the instructions I did see didn't pan out, I can't find Bing anywhere in my system, in add or remove programs and the like, nothing.
Press Windows Flag button (the one between left ctrl and alt).
Type "default apps" then press the Enter key.
Scroll down on the page that pops up until you see "Web browser" -- that's where you can change it.
I'll send you an invoice in the morning. 😉
P.S. -- Sorry that I wasn't more helpful yesterday morning. At the time I was thinking, "I didn't get out of bed on a Saturday morning to do remote tech support for free." 😉
(Probably most current and former IT workers would appreciate the sentiment.)
@earl-of-trumps saidYou're welcome, sir! I poked around in Edge a little more just now.
got it figured out!!
Ok, if I do a search in the address bar, YES, it does a DuckDuckGo search.
better than it was. Thanks @kevin-11, you are from heaven 😍
Three dots menus as before to get to Settings.
Type "home" in the search box, then press Enter.
Fiddle with settings under "When Edge starts" and "Home button".
I think "When Edge starts" > "Open these pages" would let you specify your preferred home page, and "Home button" > box for entering a URL would do the same for new tabs.
As for your nice compliment, I do know this: they had to use the tongs on me to bring me into this world, and they'll probably use an incincerator to send me back.
Which of course has me thinking I'd better have some words with my travel agent.

@gambrel saidBe that as it may, he probably could have just dialed NASA tech support on his rotary phone.
@divegeester
sonhouse is a hep cat, Daddy O.
@divegeester saidAnd some of them might even know how to be helpful to others, even at that young age.
6 year olds know how to change their internet browser default.
Tick tock.
@Kevin-Eleven
Well, my string and can didn't reach Goddard Space Flight center, out of luck I guess.
