This looks very interesting. Do you know if it'll work with Vista? It says all versions but then lists them and doesn't mention it.
Best thing to do is download the game software and play the tutorial. If that works fine, the game will work as well.
The game is simple in strict terms - what makes it more complex is the strategies you can adopt; along with the other human players and how you deal with them.
Like Daemon Sin said - have a look at the tutorials - use the rules and have a look at how they work practically using the maps as a guide .

It is pretty complex, but the rulebook comes in handy and people, especially allies, are usually quick to help with practical advice.

It's really not that bad - about 1 hour per week. That include learning the rules as you go.
